Vacuum roll-to-roll processing of flexible materials is a growing industry with a wide variety of important industrial products like packaging films, solar control window films, batteries, capacitors, touch-screens, flexible lighting sources, RFIDs, anti-counterfeiting labels, solar cells, and future flexible displays. The roll-to-roll business keeps being very challenging with new and emerging coating technologies entering commercial application. The scope of the symposium is to bring together equipment suppliers, film manufacturers, users of vacuum roll-to-roll coaters, end-users, converters of vacuum coated flexible materials and R&D institutions. Beyond this, the symposium also addresses technology fields where vacuum and non-vacuum coating technologies meet.

The symposium pro flex has been first successfully held in 2004 in Dresden with more than 100 participants from 15 countries (Europe, Asia, and America), and then in 2007 and 2010 with even more participants. The attendees appreciated both the face-to-face atmosphere of a workshop with up-to-date presentations and the flair of an international conference. This conference provides the perfect opportunity to get most current information about the state of the art in vacuum roll-to-roll coating.
